This trip was everything I could possibly have asked for in a photo adventure. Not the least of my joy was the opportunity to travel Newfoundland in the company of my oldest son, Spencer Ryerson, who is a cinematographer by trade and training, and who has also quietly become quite a solid photographer! I learned a few things from him this trip (and hopefully maybe the reverse for him?!).

For many years, the good people of Newfoundland have been the brunt of many a Canadian joke. But I think the joke is on all of us. This is one seriously beautiful province. It is also a hard, hard place to live in and make a living in. And I believe it takes a special kind of person to spend their life there. These are hearty folks, who are quick to offer kindness and help. The land itself has so many different things going on, it would take eons to cover it. Do yourself a favour. Get thee to Newfoundland. You won't be sorry. Ever.
