Letchworth Park is one of those places that I would classify as a well-known secret that everyone seems to know about. It refers to itself as the "Grand Canyon of the East", with the Genesee River roaring through a gorge over three major waterfalls between cliffs, and surrounded by lush, manicured forests and hiking trails. Located just a few hours' drive from Ontario, it's about an hour south of Rochester, in upstate New York. This area was known to be one of the favourite photographic playgrounds for Minor White, one of North America's key photographic influences (1908-1976). Seeing this in the autumn might well be worth a return trip.
