Lori Ryerson - Focalocity Photography | Eastern Sierra, California

In 2014, I took one of my first solo trips, a trip into Northern California, through the Eastern Sierra Nevada area. This is the area that Ansel Adams made famous; it runs in a corridor between Yosemite National Park, with Mt. Whitney as the highest point in the US, and Death Valley, the lowest point. As I said back then, I think you could easily spent 25 years in this area and never shoot the same picture twice. At that time, I said (to nobody in particular) that I would have to return. In 2017, I did so. It is rare for me to get an opportunity to revisit my travel stops, and returning to this area felt like I was coming home. I love this region. There's just something about it that envelops my soul, and makes me feel confident about my work and my abilities. I could drive through the mountains for days on end, and just ... be.
